Iran has not sent important oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz for about seven weeks. A U.S. naval blockade has stopped new oil cargoes from reaching China. China is Iran’s main remaining oil customer.
Iran loaded about 220,000 to 255,000 barrels of oil per day in August. This was much lower than in July and March. The drop may reduce Iran’s foreign-currency income and increase inflation.
