Germany’s Alternative for Germany party, or AfD, won the state election in Saxony-Anhalt on September 6, 2026. It received 43.8% of the vote. The party won 39 of 83 seats.
AfD needed more seats to govern alone. Other major parties still refuse to work with AfD.
