On Sept. 5, U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. On Sept. 6, they met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv. They wanted to help Russia and Ukraine restart peace talks.
The meetings were encouraging, but no agreement was reached. The war and air attacks continued.
